Ariadna Tovar Ramirez, Abogada (J.D. equivalent), Magister en Derecho (LL.M. equivalent), is a Consultant at the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law, with expertise in healthy food environments and sexual and reproductive health and rights.
Ariadna holds an Abogada degree and Magister en Derecho from the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia, with a “Women and Human Rights” Certificate from the Universidad de Chile in Santiago, Chile. She recently obtained a “Certification on Bioethics, Health and Biolaw” from the Instituto de Investigaciones Jurídicas of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.
Ariadna’s work has supported organizations including the Amnesty International – International Secretariat, with a focus on human rights defenders, Women’s Link Worldwide, where she led, designed and implemented legal strategies for advancing human rights in the areas of sexual and reproductive rights, rights of the survivors of human trafficking and intersectional discrimination in Colombia and across Latin America. Ariadna began her professional career at the Consejo de Estado (the highest administrative court in Colombia) and as litigator in a private office, mainly working in constitutional and administrative matters.
Ariadna has been a guest professor on human rights, women’s rights and sexual and reproductive rights in Universities in Colombia and Mexico. She has also designed and provided trainings on strategic litigation in different parts of Latin America.
