Epidemics such as Ebola crystallized, once again, the extent to which social inequalities influence health. In countries with limited resources, the possibilities of slowing the spread of a virus, such as Ebola, are considerably reduced compared to what could happen in more developed countries. To combat the effects of the zip code, Professor Lawrence Gostin, director of the O’Neill Institute for Global Health Law at Georgetown University (USA) , is committed to exploiting legal arms to enforce widely recognized human rights such as the right to health.
Gostin, who has been in Barcelona this week to give a course in the Master in Global Health of the Barcelona Institute of Global Health (ISGlobal), defends the creation of a binding international treaty so that all territories on the planet have an effective right to health.
