Dr. Anthony Fauci spoke about U.S. preparedness and response to the Zika virus. Dr. Fauci reported on progress in making a Zika vaccine but that Congress had not passed legislation to fund efforts for combating the virus which can cause pregnant women to give birth to babies with severe birth defects and neurological problems. Dr. Fauci stressed the importance of investment in research of global health to be prepared for global threats. After panelists discussed his remarks, Dr. Fauci joined them in responding to questions from members of the audience in the Georgetown University Law Center Faculty Dining Room
