Please RSVP for Gun Violence in Mexico and Central America: The Challenges and the Paths to Solutions. The global burden of gun violence accounts for more than 250,000 deaths worldwide, and half of these deaths occur in just six countries –all in the Americas.

This public health and humanitarian crisis has significant challenges, requiring multiple policy and program approaches  for making our respective nations healthy and safe. This multisectoral conference is intended to convene public health, humanitarian, arms control, policy, legal, human rights and other leaders to focus on challenges ahead and finding solutions.

The day’s events include panels discussions and breakout sessions to discuss topics such as disrupting the arms flow, using health care systems to address gun violence, litigation and legal approaches, and comparative international efforts.

The Mechanisms of Harm: Gun Trade, Public Health, and Physics

Understanding Multiple Policy Approaches with a Focus on the Flow of Guns

This is no cost to attend but you must register to participate. Registration will close with 150 participants.

Light breakfast items and lunch will be provided.

This event is in partnership with the Consortium of Universities for Global Health, Giffords Law Center, Medical College of Wisconsin, Forum on the Arms Trade, Universidad Anáhuac, Whitney R. Harris World Law Institute, Stop US Arms to Mexico, and the Brady Campaign.

Georgetown University Law Center is accessible from Union Station and the Judiciary Square metro station on the Red line.


There is limited paid street parking available around campus, in addition to multiple parking garages within a couple blocks of the Law Center. Parking on campus is not available.
