Melissa Baney is a summer intern at the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law.
Prior to joining the O’Neill Institute, Baney became interested in psychopharmacology and addiction while studying psychology at American University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in 2019 and her Master of Arts in 2020. In graduate school, she concentrated in biological and experimental psychology and contributed to tobacco studies as a Research Assistant in the Behavioral Pharmacology and Health Promotion Laboratory. She also developed a background in global privacy law while serving as a Data Privacy and Compliance Analyst at technology startup X-Mode Social. Baney plans to spend her career advocating for safety, affordability, and scientific integrity in healthcare industries, especially pharmaceuticals and medical devices.
Baney is a rising second-year J.D. Candidate at Georgetown University Law Center.
