This week, World Trade Organisation will meet to urgently discuss calls for vaccine makers to waive their intellectual property rights, as India’s COVID-19 numbers continue to surge out of control.

The WTO is coming under increased pressure from both India and South Africa to greenlight the waiver to help achieve global vaccine equity – but the world’s rich countries oppose the move.
