The No Surprises Act—passed by Congress in December 2020—will protect patients from the most pervasive types of surprise out-of-network bills beginning on January 1, 2022. With only a year to implement the law, federal officials have swiftly issued new rules and guidance including, to date, three interim final rules, one proposed rule, and guidance.
