Read the PublicationThe most recent edition of the Health Affairs journal series EYE ON HEALTH REFORM, titled “Supreme Court Ends Right To Abortion,” is authored by Katie Keith, who provides “Following the ACA” rapid response analysis for Health Affairs Forefront. In this report, Keith briefly and cogently summarizes the landmark ruling Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which overturned a woman’s constitutionally protected right to a previability abortion. Keith takes care to differentiate the findings in Justice Alito’s majority opinion from those expressed in separate concurrences by Justices Thomas and Kavanaugh, as well as Chief Justice Roberts. These concurrences addressed related issues, including how the court might consider other right-to-privacy cases in the future. Keith also summarizes several other Supreme Court cases handed down at the end of the 2021 term.
