On August 9, 2022, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), on behalf of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Department of the Treasury, notified state officials in Georgia that it was suspending part of the state’s approved waiver under Section 1332 of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The suspension applies to the second part of Georgia’s approved waiver, known as the Georgia Access Model, that was set to begin in the 2023 plan year. (The first part of Georgia’s waiver, for a state-based reinsurance program that began in the 2022 plan year, is unaffected.)
