The UN reports that the impact of climate change on persons with albinism is one of the most neglected and under-recognized issues. In Africa alone, it is estimated that persons with albinism are up to 1000 times more likely to develop skin cancer than those without, with many dying by the age of 40.
Join us in conversation with leaders advancing albinism rights about the impact of climate change on the health, education, and right to work of persons with albinism in Zimbabwe. In this session, we will discuss the findings of a storytelling project led by a collective of NGOs and trusts based in Zimbabwe and supported by the O’Neill Institute. The project aimed to amplify the voices and lived experiences of persons with albinism and parents of children with albinism.
The webinar will also explore solutions from the community of albinism rights activists, incorporating the perspectives of youth and women.
