The goal of this roundtable is to generate recommendations for licensing terms for diagnostics. The Medicines Patent Pool (MPP) is part of the WHO-convened COVID-19 Technology Access Pool (C-TAP). Although the MPP has extensive experience with medicines, this is the first time the MPP is engaging with diagnostics. We hope the recommendations will help guide the MPP’s work and strategy to support diagnostics access (including beyond COVID-19) through sharing of technical know-how and pooling of intellectual property. As a start, this consultation aims to solicit input from a broad range of actors on disease scope, target products and technologies, terms and conditions for in- and out-licensing, and considerations for engaging licensees, particularly manufacturers in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
