April Joy G. Ong is a student in the 2024-2025 LL.M. in National and Global Health Law program. She is originally from the Philippines.

Her personal experience with a disability due to an autoimmune disease drives her interest in health and disability laws, with a focus on helping the Philippine judiciary make justice more accessible and inclusive for persons with disabilities.

Ong currently serves as a court attorney (law clerk) at the Office of Associate Justice Japar B. Dimaampao of the Supreme Court of the Philippines. In addition to her judicial work, she is a member of the Secretariat of the Technical Working Group drafting rules for the implementation of the Filipino Sign Language Act in the judiciary. She is also a professor of remedial law, civil law, and political law at San Sebastian College – Recoletos College of Law.

Ong earned her J.D. from San Beda University College of Law, where she ranked fourth in her graduating class. She is a Fulbright Foreign Student Program awardee from the Philippines.
