Ashley Nies is a summer legal intern with the Center for Community Health Innovation at the O’Neill Institute.

Nies is researching the public health impacts of climate change in Washington, D.C., supporting the development of the District’s updated climate action plan.

Prior to joining the O’Neill Institute, she interned with the Global Health program at the Council on Foreign Relations, where she analyzed health policy developments and published articles on Medicaid access, migrant health, and state-level COVID-19 responses. She also served as a course associate in Stanford’s Program in Human Biology, co-instructing undergraduate courses on health policy, human development, and population health.

Nies is currently a Blume Public Interest Scholar at Georgetown University Law Center. She holds an M.S. in Community Health and Prevention Research from Stanford University School of Medicine, where she completed a thesis on the help-seeking behaviors of intimate partner violence survivors, and a B.S. in Human Biology from Stanford, with a concentration in Public Health and Epidemiology.
