Ayesha Mehdi is a student of the 2024-2025 LL.M. in National and Global Health Law. She is originally from Pakistan.
Prior to enrolling at Georgetown Law, Mehdi was a seasoned partner at Spencer Fane LLP, an Am Law 200 firm, where she led the Nevada healthcare law practice. Her expertise spans corporate, regulatory, and licensure issues, including mergers and acquisitions and regulatory compliance. Before entering private practice, Mehdi managed an oncology practice in Las Vegas and served as an adjunct faculty member in health law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Public Health.
Mehdi graduated with honors from Walsh College of Accountancy and Business Administration in Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. She earned a master’s in health services administration and a J.D. from the University of Kansas, where she is currently serving her second term on the law school’s Board of Governors.
Throughout her career, Mehdi has actively volunteered in leadership roles, including vice president of the Las Vegas South Asian Bar Association and chair of the American Bar Association’s Healthcare Fraud & Compliance Interest Group. In addition to her private practice, Mehdi devotes time to pro bono cases through collaborations with the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada’s Children’s Attorneys Project and the American Civil Liberties Union.
Mehdi is a respected speaker at local and national health care law forums and has authored multiple articles. She has earned numerous awards in Nevada for her community contributions. After completing her LL.M., Mehdi aims to lead efforts for health care equity and access, particularly in conflict zones and marginalized communities.
