Katherine Record, J.D., M.A., was a law fellow at the O’Neill Institute from 2010-2011. She is currently pursuing her MPH at Harvard University’s School of Public Health.
As a fellow, Katherine worked on public health law reform, domestic health law reform analysis, firearms control, global preparation for pre-exposure prophylaxis to prevent the transmission of HIV, and the development of the legal portion of a genetics database. Her research interests include access to essential medicines, the effect of university patenting activity on drug pricing, mental health policy, reproductive health, and health psychology.
Prior to joining the O’Neill Institute, Katherine received her law degree, cum laude, and a masters in Psychology at Duke University, where she served on the editorial board of the Duke Law Journal and the student advisory board of the Duke Global Health Institute. She also worked as a student attorney for the AIDS Legal Project, co-directed the Health Law Society and a seminar on health, politics, and justice, and conducted licensing research for the Duke chapter of Universities Allied for Essential Medicines.
Katherine is licensed in the state of New York and serves as the liaison to the AIDS Coordinating Committee of the American Bar Association’s Health Law Section.
