Dr. Paul Kalb is a senior scholar at the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law.

Kalb is a fellow of the Harvard Advanced Leadership Initiative, an interfaculty initiative designed to help experienced leaders address some of society’s most pressing problems.

Kalb held a series of leadership positions at Sidley Austin LLP for many years. He was the global practice leader of the firm’s Healthcare Group and, subsequently, the firm’s Healthcare and FDA Group; a founder of the firm’s Global Life Sciences Practice; and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. As a practicing lawyer, Kalb represented many of the world’s leading drug, biotech, and device manufacturers, as well as hospitals and other providers in high-profile enforcement and regulatory matters. He also served as a government-mandated compliance advisor and has written extensively on the fiduciary responsibility of boards to oversee corporate compliance programs.

Kalb serves as vice chair of the board of Children’s National Hospital and on the boards of Bearacuda Re Insurance Company and the Analysis Group.

Prior to his career in law, Kalb trained in internal medicine and worked as an attending physician at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. He has taught courses on health law at Georgetown University School of Medicine and on pharmaceutical industry law at Georgetown University Law Center.

Kalb is an alumnus of Yale Law School and the Boston University School of Medicine.
