Sunny Light is a legal fellow with the Center for Transformational Health Law at the O’Neill Institute. 

Light received her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, where she was a Toll Public Interest Scholar; her Master’s in Public Health from Yale University; and her undergraduate degree from the University of St. Andrews. 

Prior to joining as a fellow, and prior to law school, Light most recently worked at the O’Neill Institute as a program associate, where she supported the Global Health Policy and Politics Initiative, and the O’Neill-Lancet Commission on Racism, Structural Discrimination, and Global Health. During her MPH, Sunny interned with the Yale Global Health Leadership Initiative, supporting the execution of and developing an evaluation framework for a program building leadership and management capacity in health ministries’ immunization teams in low-income countries. She was also a research assistant at the Yale Institute for Global Health, focusing on global health governance and COVID-19 policies. In Cape Town, South Africa, she interned at the Desmond Tutu HIV Centre and Global Vision International where, respectively, she supported tuberculosis research, and developed health workshops for township residents. Sunny also worked in health communications and public relations in New York City and Beijing.
