Ty Barnes is a student of the 2024-2025 LL.M. in National and Global Health Law. He is originally from the United States.

Barnes is focused on expanding access to healthcare for disadvantaged populations through effective policymaking, with an emphasis on addressing social determinants to protect health as a human right.

Prior to enrolling at Georgetown, Barnes was a public servant in the role of a government attorney. He began his career as an assistant attorney general in litigation, engaging all stages of representation through trial and on appeal. Thereafter, he transitioned in-house, advising governmental entities on diverse matters of business and compliance; each stage incorporated a dynamic scope of practice across numerous fields of law.

Barnes received his J.D. from the University of Arkansas, where he was recognized as the Medico-Legal scholar with honors for his outstanding medical legal work.
