I applaud the swearing in of Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson. In the wake of Supreme Court decisions that demonstrate the conservative justices’ casual disregard for public health and human rights — from children being killed by firearms, women denied basic reproductive health services, and the gutting of environmental protections — it is heartening to see a compassionate humanist sworn in as a justice.
