According to Lawrence Gostin, director of the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law at Georgetown, the “ideal vision” for global science would be a “full and open sharing of information including pathogen samples and genomic sequencing data, and it wouldn’t be a bargaining chip or a question of national sovereignty. The second thing is a platform that is widely trusted and legitimate, that grants any legitimate researcher open access to all relevant data.”
