The O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law, a leading health policy think tank in the world, is pleased to announce that esteemed international human rights lawyer, Sarah L. Bosha, will join the O’Neill Institute as the interim director of academic programs.
“Sarah Bosha is one of the world’s leading international human rights lawyers, and we are honored to have her guide Georgetown Law’s health law academic programs,” said Professor Michele Bratcher Goodwin, co-faculty director of the O’Neill Institute and Linda D. & Timothy J. O’Neill Professor of Constitutional Law and Global Health Policy. “Under her leadership, these programs will continue to cultivate law students and lawyers who can advance health and justice worldwide. Sarah’s vision and leadership have brought unmatched talent from around the globe, and we look forward to building on that outstanding work.”
Ranked as one of the top Health Law/Medical Law LL.M. programs in the world, the health law LL.M. programs at Georgetown Law prepare law graduates to apply their specialized legal skills to improve health outcomes in the United States and around the world. This multidisciplinary program provides unparalleled opportunities for law graduates to further develop their expertise, as they contribute to cutting-edge research and engage with renowned faculty.
“I am honored to continue the important work of supporting students in Georgetown Law’s health law academic programs, many of whom have since gone on to impactful leadership roles around the world,” said Bosha. “I am grateful for the time I spent supporting the work of the Center for Global Health Policy and Politics, where I was able to contribute to their health equity mandate in the field of HIV/AIDS and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights.”
Bosha brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to this position, spanning more than a decade in international human rights in Africa and across continents. She takes on this important role after serving as director of legal research and human rights at the Center for Global Health Policy and Politics, where she led legal research and advocacy on HIV/AIDS, sexual and reproductive health and rights, and health equity. Bosha also brings a wealth of experience in academic programs in the United States at Georgetown and Notre Dame. In previous academic leadership, she helped strengthen Georgetown Law’s multidisciplinary programs. Throughout her tenure, she has played a defining role in students’ academic and professional development, enabling them to further develop their own legal skills and become leaders in their respective fields.
“Sarah is an extraordinary scholar and leader whose deep legal expertise has greatly enriched the learning experience of our scholars,” added Professor Lawrence Gostin, Georgetown University Distinguished University Professor and co-faculty director of the O’Neill Institute. “Equally remarkable is her unwavering mentorship, which has shaped and inspired so many law students and lawyers.
