Read the PublicationOn September 20th, for the first time in history, the United Nations (UN) convened a High-Level Meeting (HLM) dedicated to Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness, and Response at the UN Headquarters in New York and approved a high-level Political Declaration. The timing could not be more critical, as the World Health Organization (WHO) is concurrently negotiating major revisions of the International Health Regulations (2005) (IHR) and a new Pandemic Treaty. These two transformational international instruments are being negotiated largely by health ministries who looked to New York for the highest political backing by Heads of State and Government.
