The Fight Against Health Emergencies in Africa

Multiple outbreaks of mpox are posing enormous response challenges across Africa, just as Rwanda confronts its first outbreak of Marburg virus, all in the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic. Join Georgetown Law’s O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law and The Conversation Africa for a timely conversation on the evolving mpox outbreaks; resource needs from vaccines to diagnostics, the coordinated response of WHO and Africa CDC to disease outbreaks from Ebola and COVID-19 to mpox and Marburg virus, and long-term legal reforms needed to protect communities from dangerous disease outbreaks.
