Please join the O’Neill Institute on Wednesday, October 2, from 1:20 – 3:20 p.m. ET for the next session of the 2024 Colloquium Series, “Gun Violence: The Supreme Court’s Revised Historical Test.”

The tragic shooting at Apalachee High School in Georgia is a heartbreaking reminder of the relentless gun violence plaguing our schools and communities. Now, more than ever, it’s crucial to understand the Supreme Court’s evolving approach to evaluating gun laws. Their recent rulings, particularly the revised historical test from New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen and United States v. Rahimi, are reshaping not only the legal landscape but also public health strategies aimed at preventing gun violence.

With schools being a recurring site for gun violence, the stakes have never been higher for policymakers, educators, and communities as they navigate these new legal constraints. Join us for a panel discussion with leading experts as they unpack the Court’s decisions and the broader impact of gun violence on public health, safety, and the legal framework surrounding it.

Speakers:

  • Shira Feldman, Director of Constitutional Litigation, Brady United Against Gun Violence
