Please join us for an interactive discussion on expanding access to evidence-based treatment for individuals with opioid use disorder. During the virtual roundtable, speakers will review a new model law on Access to Medication for Addiction Treatment in Correctional Settings.
Access to evidence-based treatment during incarceration is central to any effective overdose prevention strategy. Medication-based treatment in correctional settings is especially important given the elevated risk of overdose death for individuals leaving jails and prisons. The need for such treatment is highlighted in American Medical Association’s model law on The Ensuring Access to High Quality Care for the Treatment of Substance Use Disorders Act.
This event is particularly relevant in light of continued increases in overdose death rates that have accelerated during the COVID-19 pandemic.
