Five years ago, the Center for Transformational Health Law (CTHL) was established in the wake of systemic failures and shortcomings in the global response to COVID-19.

On this World Health Day, CTHL reflects on its work and impact since its founding, as it now plays an essential role in supporting nearly every pillar of the global health architecture — from civil society organizations to the WHO.

Led by Sam Halabi, the Center has helped shape the following areas and more through its thoughtful collaborations, scholarship, and leadership in global initiatives:

  • Global health security and pandemic preparedness
  • UHC and health workforce development
  • Access to critical medicines
  • Regulatory approaches to AI
