Read the PublicationThis report, in Spanish, provides a legal analysis of the Norma Oficial Mexicana (Official Mexican Standard) NOM-051-SCFI/SSA1-2010, published on March 27, 2020, through which the Mexican government established a front-of-package warning labeling system similar to that of other Latin American countries, such as Chile, Peru, and Uruguay. This report focuses on the measure as it directly relates to human rights obligations and the role of the state as a regulator in matters of public health, compatible with international economic law.
