Please join our virtual event for the public launch of, “Food, nutrition and the right to health,” the latest report by Dr. Tlaleng Mofokeng, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the right of everyone to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health.
The event is hosted by The Aspen Institute, The Global Center for Legal Innovation on Food Environments at the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law, Vital Strategies, and Bloomberg Philanthropies.
Improving diets through creating and maintaining healthier food systems and environments is paramount to addressing the $2 trillion global obesity epidemic. It’s a task that seems almost impossible under the deluge of ultra-processed products that make up most of our food intake. Through this report, Dr. Tlaleng Mofokeng demonstrates how food security and nutrition, not solely as underlying determinants of health, are necessary elements for global progress toward all 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
The panel will discuss the report, followed by a Q&A with audience members.
Panelists include:
- Tlaleng Mofokeng, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Health
- Sandra Mullin, Senior Vice President, Policy Advocacy and Communication at Vital Strategies
