Join us for an in-depth discussion on Lenacapavir, a groundbreaking long-acting injectable PrEP formulation administered just twice a year. This session will examine its potential to transform HIV prevention on a global scale, looking at the latest clinical evidence, regulatory pathways, and the access barriers that may shape its rollout, especially in low-resource settings. The program will feature a special keynote address followed by a panel discussion with leading experts in HIV prevention and global health, exploring how innovation, policy, and equity intersect in the next frontier of HIV response.

Keynote Session 

Speaker: Moupali Das, MD, MPH, Gilead Sciences

Moupali Das, MD, MPH, is Vice President, Clinical Development, HIV Prevention and Virology Pediatrics, at Gilead Sciences. She is an Infectious Diseases/HIV trained physician with a background in academic medicine and public health.

As Head of HIV Prevention, she leads high-performing cross-functional teams accountable for the overall development strategy and the conception, design and execution of HIV prevention clinical trials from Phase 1 through Phase 4. She is dedicated to ensuring efficient development and regulatory approvals to support rapid access to innovative products to help end the HIV epidemic. She oversees the pediatrics team who are deeply committed to ensuring the development of pediatric formulations for Gilead’s virology medications.

Moderator: Dr. Charles B. Holmes, Director, Georgetown University Center for Innovation in Global Health; Distinguished Scholar and Program Director·O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law at Georgetown University Law Center

Dr. Charles B. Holmes is the Director of the Georgetown Center for Innovation in Global Health, a Professor of Medicine at Georgetown University Medical Center, and serves as a Distinguished Scholar and Program Director at the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law. Dr. Holmes is a physician who has held senior global health leadership roles in government, academia, and non-governmental organizations. He served as Chief Medical Officer and Deputy U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator for PEPFAR in the Department of State under Ambassador Eric Goosby during the Obama-Biden administration.

Micheal Ighodaro, Executive Director, Global Black Gay Men Connect (GBGMC)

Micheal Ighodaro is a global health strategist, human rights advocate, and expert in community engagement with over a decade of experience advancing health equity and LGBTQI rights in more than 20 countries. As Executive Director of Global Black Gay Men Connect, which he co-founded, Micheal leads global advocacy to advance the rights and health of Black gay men. Previously, as Co-Executive Director of the Prevention Access Campaign, he championed the Undetectable = Untransmittable (U=U) movement, expanding its global reach and influence. He also co-founded Global Black Pride and continues to shape HIV prevention, policy innovation, and inclusive health programming worldwide.

Rupa Patel, MD, MPH, Clinical Researcher, Whitman Walker Institute

Dr Rupa R Patel is an infectious diseases physician, researcher and public health expert. She is a Research Associate Professor of Medicine (Voluntary) in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Washington University in St. Louis. She is the clinical biomedical HIV prevention advisor to the Community Health Department at Whitman-Walker Health (WWH), Washington, D.C. She has experience in clinical care,  creating community programs, and policy development related to long-acting antiretrovirals and their role in curbing HIV incidence.

Mitchell Warren, Executive Director, AIDS Vaccine Advocacy Coalition (AVAC)

Mitchell has been the Executive Director of the AVAC since 2004. He leads the organization’s overall program strategy and maintains strategic partnerships with AIDS service organizations, research and development agencies, policy makers, funders, the media and other health advocacy organizations. Formerly at IAVI, FHC, and PSI, he is a global HIV prevention leader serving on PEPFAR’s Scientific Advisory Board, IAS governance, and other key bodies, with deep expertise in R&D, policy, and access.

Moderator: Martha Sichone Cameron, PhD Candidate, Global Infectious Disease, Georgetown University

Martha is part of the team at Georgetown’ s Center for Global Health Practice & Impact in Georgetown University. She also continues to serve on the board of the International Community of Women Living with HIV (ICW) North America as their Executive Director.
