The Law and Public Policy Group (GDPP), of the University of São Paulo Law School, in partnership with the Global Center for Legal Innovation on Food Environments of the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law (Georgetown University Law Center), invite you to the event, “Law and Public Policy: the regulation of food environments in Brazil.”

The event will be held in person on Thursday, November 17, at the University of São Paulo Law School, and will also be broadcast live with English translation. The details for virtual access will be sent by email to registrants.

The event is scheduled to start at 9:00AM and to end at 5:00PM (Brasília time zone), followed by a cocktail party to launch the special issue of the Revista Estudos Institucionais on the same topic. The event is divided into three panels, in addition to an initial presentation by a keynote speaker, as indicated below:

  • 9:00am to 9:30 am: Opening remarks
  • 9:30am to 10:30am: Keynote speaker
  • 10:30am to 12:00pm: Panel 1 – Health, marketing and advertising: the role of regulation
  • 1:30pm to 3:00pm: Panel 2 – Industry costs and externalities: public policies and judicialization
  • 3:30pm to 5:00 pm: Public policy and the right to adequate food and nutrition
  • 5:00pm: Launch of special issue of the Revista Estudos Institucionais
