This initiative seeks to improve reproductive health outcomes in the United States through transnational law and policy experience-sharing.

We do this by supporting U.S. advocates and decision-makers in identifying, documenting, adapting, and raising the visibility of groundbreaking law and policy approaches to reproductive health in other countries.

Since 2024, the O’Neill Institute has been collaborating with State Innovation Exchange (SiX) and Legal Voice on a series of projects that seek to bring abortion law and policy experiences from around the world to the United States through transnational community-building and knowledge-sharing.

As part of the groundbreaking initiative, we have:

  • Co-hosted Beyond Borders convenings with SiX in January 2024 and November 2025
  • Published five global legal comparison reports, various commentaries, and analyses
  • Presented our findings at five U.S. conferences (APHA, PHLC, HLPC, NAF, and 22nd Century), two international conferences (CLACAI and WCCL), two webinars, and one symposium
